Today, St.Mary’s junior team took on CastleKnock community college. The match started of with a sudden point from CastleKnock, followed by an attempted score from Grace Coburn. Followed by a brilliant point by Neasa McPhilps. Equalizing the score in the first five minutes. SMCN of to a great start. Lovely pass from Ellie to Abby leading to Abby sending it straight over the bar. Great blocks from both Áine Murray and Heather Lockhart, with pressure from Mia Clancy. Ellie Breenan continued her determination with fabulous passes throughout the first half. Three more points by Ellie, Neasa and Luli. Great goal from Neasa from the halfway line. Amazing saving from Emily McGhee in goals. Great ball work all around, finishing the first half on a good note. Excellent mentorship from Mr.McGeveer and Mr.Mcgurie.
As the second half begins, Saoirse Greene continue to clear the ball, even though CastleKnock had a strong start scoring a goal and a point bring St.Mary’s lead to only 4 points. Saoirse and Ria kept up the defense even when CastleKnock were putting up a fight, adding another goal to the score board. Our center forward Luli O’Sullivan never gave up and gains a points , with SMCN end up leading by 2 points 10 minutes into the second half. Great defense from Eimear in the full back line. An unbelievable pass from Maya to Ellie ending up with Ellie scoring a goal. Followed by another quick goal from Ava. The goalie ended the game, how she started with a fantastic puck out, right into Áine Murray’s hands. Ria Harringtons unstoppable defense caused her hurl to snap in half. With three minutes remaining St.Mary’s continued the pressure on CastleKnock. With the final goal from Grace Coburn, the match ended with a score of SMCN 4-9 CastleKnock 2-4.
Well done to all the girls on their breath-taking performance
