"... It is the special function of the Catholic School to develop in the community an atmosphere animated by a spirit of liberty and charity based on the Gospel. It enables young people while developing their own personality, to grow at the same time in that new life which has been given them in Baptism. Finally, it so orients the whole of human culture to the message of salvation, that the knowledge which pupils acquire of the world, of life and of people is illuminated by faith..." (Vat. II: declaration of Christian Education)
Our primary aim is to educate our pupils holistically in the Catholic tradition. We wish to prepare them for a life of service in a spirit of care, love, truth, respect, justice and forgiveness. As a Catholic School we (Management and Staff) will serve their needs in the area of self-confidence, inner freedom and self control, in leadership and responsibility in their growth towards personal maturity according to the philosophy of Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy "... Let us fit the children for Earth without unfitting them for Heaven..." We expect Students to participate fully in all activities which constitute the life of the school and through which our whole educational aims may be realised. This means participation in school organised events, both academic and non-academic, such as Retreats, Educational outings, Sports, Career Guidance opportunities, Music, Drama, Charity Work and Fund-raising activities. We look to the parents as the primary educators of their children to support the school in every possible way in its efforts to achieve a holistic education. We welcome the partnership efforts of parents as individuals, on the Parents' Council and on the Board of Management.
